I spent many years dealing with technology. Designing and installing networks, email servers, firewalls and other security solutions etc etc.
Eventually I got bored of doing this and went to milk cows. Not any cows of course, cows with RFID chips and a whole heap of technology I had no idea existed on a farm. Now I do something else entirely for a day job and my technical mind keeps ticking so Badger was born.
One of the main reasons I wanted out of the Systems Integrator/Network Design world was the dumbing down of the work. Everything was becoming wizard based and you no longer needed a deep knowledge of networking protocols or even the OSI model. These days the End User is able to do incredible things with Apps and wizards and plug and play doohickies.
Sitting watching my favourite YouTube channels I got to thinking about how these people were making money. I want to find out how that's possible, how people get views, the mechanism for generating revenue and how it all ties together.
I'm not planning on making my fortune, I'll be happy to cover costs. So far I'm in the hole for a domain name and some video editing software. The few cents I've generated so far has a way to go to get me back in the black.
So after a 5 year hiatus I am back in the technology world. I'm sure nothing has changed... Ha only joking. Now I'm going to use the simplicity of modern IT to my advantage to work out how it all works and see what's possible.
I'll use this blog to share what I'm up to with the website and the various elements and the successes and pitfalls I come across.
